Which temples are included in our itinerary for stops? The Valley of Kings, was a burial site for pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom and was considered as the gateway to the afterlife. The temple of Queen Hatshepsut, known as one of the most successful and famed female pharaohs of ancient Egypt and Karnak Temple are some of the many jewels to explore in the magic city of Luxor. Karnak was primarily dedicated to the Theban triad of gods – Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Amun, the chief deity, was associated with the sun, air, and creation. He was considered a king of the gods and a symbol of divine kingship, embodying the essential life force. The Temple of Khnum, located 55 km south of Luxor, 9 meters below street level. Khnum, was often depicted as a ram-headed god, believed to be the god of the source of the Nile River, and was associated with creation, water, and fertility. Kom Ombois is a double temple dedicated to two gods: Sobek and Horus. Sobek is the crocodile god associated with fertility and the power of the Nile, while Horus is the falcon-headed god of the sky and kingship. This dual dedication symbolizes a balance between two opposing forces or aspects of life - the primal, instinctive power of Sobek and the civilized, ordered realm represented by Horus. Philae, considered the most precious of all Egypt’s temples, is dedicated to Isis, goddess known for her roles as a divine mother, wife, and magic healer.
